Change of plans

Well total change of plans, we have decided to send Justin back to school for his masters, so we won't be moving as soon as we thought in fact it may even be a couple of years depending on which school he gets into. SOOOO... as much as I hate this apartment and our setup here I am excited to say that I do get to start nesting. Today I begin cleaning extra stuff out of the spare bedroom, or shall I say Nursery!

hormones

Today I watched "The Business of Being Born" what an interesting documentary! all about home birth and the history of birth moving into the hospital and the reasons for both. But every time a woman pushed a baby out and got to hold it for the first time I was in tears, hormones are crazy! Of course now I'm terrified to have a baby in the hospital, I guess I'll finally have questions at my next appointment!

snow

The time to move has come when I can't even see joy in the first snow...

Pregnancy dreams have been even stranger then normal dreams which I didn't think was possible, but sadly I remember them with far less description. Thus they are no fun to write.

13 weeks! hopefully that means I will start to feel more comfortable soon! And hopefully I will feel baby move soon! I keep trying, so far nothing.

What I'm up to...

Tiny!

There he is, little martian.

They really are life savers! In the world of nausea that is.

It's a little lob-sided, but I like it!

super simple.

Trimester 2

SO... according to this I can say I am in my second trimester!

The three basic ways to calculate trimesters

There are basically three ways of dividing up a pregnancy into the three trimesters; they are by:
Development,   Gestation,   Conception. They give different dates for when the second trimester begins and for when the third trimester begins. Your health care provider might prefer to use the Development method, while another Midwife or Doctor may use the Gestation method.
I am sure they do that just to confuse pregnant women.  Big Grin

by Development:

This uses actual developmental stages to divide up a pregnancy. From LMP to 12 weeks the embryo develops all the major organs and becomes a fetus. From 12 weeks to 27 weeks the fetus continues developing and reaches viability. From 27 weeks on the fetus finishes development and prepares for delivery. Here the second trimester begins at 12w 0d and the third at 27w 0d.

by Gestation:

With this method you take the 40 weeks of gestation and divide by three. Here the second trimester begins at 13w 3d and the third at 26w 6d.

by Conception:

This method is where you take the 38 weeks of post conception development, divide by three, and add two weeks. Here the second trimester begins at 14w 5d and the third at 27w 3d.

What is the length of the first, second and third trimesters?

The length of the trimesters is often a source of confusion. The word trimester means 'three months'. Three periods of three months each, gives pregnancy a beginning, a middle and an end period. These periods match the developmental stages to divide up a pregnancy.
  • Beginning: From LMP to 12 weeks the embryo develops all the major organs, becomes a fetus, and the placenta takes over control.
  • Middle: From 12 weeks to 27 weeks the fetus continues developing and reaches viability.
  • End: From 27 weeks on the fetus finishes development and prepares for delivery.

When does the first trimester end or third trimester begin?

Does it really matter exactly when you are out of the first trimester or start the third trimester? No. When the trimesters start and end depends on who you ask, which book you read or what website you visit. Most health care providers actually talk about your pregnancy in weeks, rather than months or trimesters.

Prego Dream

Had the most amazing dream, I still feel irritated that I had to wake up! Someone evil had discovered how to create a dragon egg and then they hid it. And I was the only one who knew how to destroy and/or train the dragon to be good. Some how Koko and Andy got the dragon egg, so I went to their house seeking it. No matter how I tried I could not convince them that they had a magical egg and that I knew a bit of magic myself! I tried taking them for a ride on my broomstick, I tried making things levitate in front of them, I tried reasoning. Nothing would work. Finally I got them to at least tell me where the egg was... They had FLUSHED IT down the Toilet! So I was flying on my broomstick towards a sewage entrance when BEEP BEEP BEEP. Time to get up.

bad day

The morning started well. Went to work feeling pretty good, but around 11 the mood swings set in and then I had to rush to the bathroom due to all the cold fluid draining ( so gross I can't hold my stomach). Takes about 2 hours for my stomach to settle again after that and then at 3ish my vision goes blurry. and then the migraine sets in (I've only had this happen since pregnancy). I read that blurry vision with a migraine is something to call the doctor about right away so I call, The migraine gets worse so I leave work. The nurse finally calls back and tells me I should go to the ER! Luckily it was Justin's early day and he was home, so we went to the ER. Morphine, CAT Scan, nausea meds... 3 hours later I'm okay, though I still have a headache and blurred vision, and now I also have a very sore butt(from the morphine shot).

Hope tomorrow goes better!

Never ending cold

Okay weird food stuff...

  • I've always liked pineapple pizza, but never like this.

  • I never used to like fish, now it's wonderful.

  • I don't like tomatoes any more, or most vegetables for that matter.

  • Tortilla chips smell strange, this one is getting a little better.

  • I think about barbeque sauce a lot, though I don't eat it much.

  • Chicken never tastes quite right.
  •
  • I love tea, but rarely coffee.
  • Bean and cheese burritos are fabulous!

  • Cheese in general is more wonderful then ever.
  • I crave spicy food!
I think that's all for now.

10 weeks

10 weeks 2 days, 26%

So Friday I started coming down with a cold Saturday I woke up feeling stuffy and awful, and like always when that happens I had no appetite. I didn't eat. First pregnancy vomit. Needless to say nothing got done yesterday. Poor Justin I'm terrible company like this.

Then at like 2 this morning I had to attend to my bladder and when I finally started to feel tired again, around 4, I went to bed and the neighbor was just blasting some movie! I tried wrapping a blanket around my ears, anything to drown it out, no use. And this is the super creepy neighbor, so I was too scared of him to actually get up and do anything about it. I am ready to be finished with apartment life!

a couple new things

Justin's first baby purchase! A Surly onsie! He stood in line for half an hour to buy this onsie, because it was "too perfect."

My first purchase after finding out about our Martian, high tops!

I am completely lacking the motivation to write lately. I am all nasty symptoms and no joys even my first appointment was a complete let down, they had told us it was a big one for both of us to attend. Instead it was just a make a pin cushion out of Jenna appointment.  Hopefully things will even out in the next few weeks, I know I'm nearing the end of my first trimester and yet that date still looks so far off!
